Do we talk?

Everyone is busy with the mobile and social media. Human knowledge and experience are slowly being replaced with smart systems and AI. A discussion and talk after meals used to make us feel at home when sailing on a ship.

Social media on board has deprived us of crucial social interaction. Social media is good if used judiciously but nothing replaces years of wisdom and experience of good old seafarers.

A thought which often crosses my mind is alcohol consumption was/is banned on many ships.

With Methanol being used as a fuel, will the Engine, boiler & generator be tipsy? Will they need to undergo an unannounced alcohol test?
